ACC deal may end further realignment

Darrelle Revis met with his new Buccaneers teammates, saying he’ll “do his best” to play up to expectations that come with a new six-year, $96 million contract. The Bucs acquired the three-time All-Pro cornerback from the Jets for the 13th overall pick in this week’s draft and a conditional pick next year. Revis said he holds no grudge against the Jets, who were reluctant to give a player coming off knee surgery such a commitment . . . Ravens linebacker Rolando McClain was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest Sunday in Decatur, Ala., the third time he has been arrested in his hometown since 2011. ACC deal may end further realignment The Atlantic Coast Conference will retain the television rights of any school that chooses to leave the conference before 2027, essentially locking its schools into the league through the length of its current television deal. The league said that presidents of 15 current and soon-to-be member schools have signed the deal, which could slam the brakes on years of realignment around college athletics. Awarding control of the TV rights means that a school would have to leave its TV revenue behind if it chose to go elsewhere. The ACC is the fourth major conference to approve a grant of TV rights, joining the Big 12, Big Ten, and Pac-12 . . . With the how and when of college football playoffs determined, it’s time to lock in the where.
